8 Days Best of Northern Botswana will give you a fully serviced (non-participation) private camping and accommodation safari tour in which the Sekanka Safaris staff will handle all of the necessary chores to keep the tour running smoothly. The safari vehicle is equipped with a refrigerator. Our canvas tents are huge (3.1 m x 3.1 m) and come with suitable beds, bed linen, and bath towels. For your privacy, your tent has a private veranda and an ensuite bathroom (with a portable flush toilet, an overhead bucket shower, and canvas sinks) attached behind it. You will be delighted with these 8 days of the best of Northern Botswana, discover the real African wildlife, and witness the powerful water falls of Africa.

Botswana is home to several large African creatures, including elephants, giraffes, hippopotamuses, buffalo, and zebras. Big cats are less common, but there are still plenty of lions to see. Rhinos are also making comeback in this area. If you want to observe uncommon species, some of the country's northern parks have endangered antelopes and African wild dogs.

Itineraries

Day 1

Travel to Xakanaxa and the Third Bridge Area (Okavango Delta)

You must come a day before the tour begins. We will pick you up from your self-booked resort in Maun and transport you to Xakanaxa and Third Bridge Area, one of the best wilderness sections of the Moremi Game Reserve, which covers marsh and dry areas of the Okavango. We'll get started early in the morning. The late afternoon will be spent searching for the diverse species and birds that this area is known for, as well as taking in the sounds and beauty of the area.

Depending on animal sightings along the route, this excursion will take between 4 and 5 hours.

Day 2

Explore the Okavango Delta

You'll be visiting the Okavango Delta, one of Africa's most spectacular natural wonders. Every year, the Delta floods, and the pathways change depending on the water level. The interaction of water and land results in some amazing wildlife interactions. Expect to see elephants, hippos, crocs, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and other animals, as well as huge cats.
The alarm goes off at 5:30 a.m. You'll get a quick cup of tea or coffee and a light breakfast bite before heading off on your morning game drive! You return to camp around 8:30 a.m. for a hearty breakfast. We will take you on a complimentary boat ride upstream in the afternoon, depending on availability and river conditions. You will wrap up the day with an evening game drive around Xakanaka Lagoon.

Day 3

Travel to Khwai Concession

The alarm goes off at 5:30 a.m. We'll drive out to see if we can capture the 'cats' in action! The majority of the trip will be spent visiting the breathtaking lagoons and corners of the Moremi Game Reserve and its neighboring wildlife-rich areas. This raises the likelihood of identifying the Big Five. We'll return to camp at 8:00 a.m., when food will be waiting for us. We'll break camp and drive to Khwai after breakfast.
The region surrounding the Khwai River (Northeast Moremi/Khwai Concession) is the focus of our game drive here.
A mokoro tour will take you along the Khwai River to see the game from a different perspective and to appreciate this peaceful traditional mode of transportation.

Day’s activities:
early morning game drive
Late afternoon game drive
Mokoro excursion
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Your overnight stay will be at the camp for one night.

Day 4

Travel to Savuti (Chobe National Park)

Once breakfast is served and once the camp has been dismantled, depart for the Savuti region in Chobe National Park's far south-western corner. We plan to arrive at 12:00 p.m. Irrigated by the Okavango's turbulent Savuti Channel, the area is noted for its otherworldly landscapes and, of course, its predators, particularly lion prides that have evolved and now specialize in hunting elephants. Lunch will be served after we arrive and set up camp. We will take you on a game drive across the area in the late afternoon and reach the Savuti marsh, where you will have excellent chances of seeing lions up close on a hunt. In the evening, return to the camp site for dinner and overnight.

Day 5

Travel to Kasane (Chobe National Park)

After breakfast, we will break camp and head north towards Kasane in Chobe National Park. As we drive along the Botswana-Namibia border, we pass via the Goha Gate, the Chobe Forest Reserve, and the communities of Kachikau, Kavimba, and Muchenje. The 70-kilometer journey between Savuti and Kachikau takes at least 2.5 hours as we cross the difficult, fine white sands of northwestern Botswana. We'll be cruising smoothly on tarmac from Kachikau onward. We'll stop briefly to view the Chobe riverfront before arriving in Kasane around 13:30 p.m. Then we'll check into Water Lily for our Kasane stay. We'll unwind and enjoy civilization after lunch. We will relax and enjoy civilization and its amenities before resuming our safari adventure by taking a sunset boat cruise on the Chobe River in the park.
Day’s activities:
Drive to Kasane.
Check in at the lodge.
Boat cruise
Your overnight stay will be at the lodge
Accommodation: Kwalape Safari Lodge

Day 6

Travel to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

We'll continue our adventure early in the morning with a game drive in the park. This is a "one-of-a-kind" experience because the Chobe area is home to some of the best wildlife reserves on the African continent. Animal density and diversity are unparalleled. The Chobe River is noted for its massive elephant herds. Go on a hunt for animals that you haven't seen before the camera lens! Activities for the day include: -A morning wildlife drive -Breakfast -Transfer to Victoria Falls Your experience in Botswana comes to an end here. We will next arrange for a smooth transit into Zimbabwe, where you will be driven to the border in an air-conditioned minivan. The border crossing will be at around 1:00 pm and you will reach your lodge latest at 2:30 pm.

Day 7

Visit Victoria Falls.

A relaxing self-guided tour of the Victoria Falls and the optional Mosi-oa-Tunya National Parks Unlike in Botswana, it is not essential to plan or participate in a national park tour with a guide. The falls are walked through. There are well-constructed walkways and trails that lead to numerous overlooks along the journey. Be careful that some people may try to sell you guided tours there; this is not required! The lodge will provide shuttle services to and from the Falls for an additional fee, or they will organize a certified cab for you.
Activities (at their own cost and timing):
Explore the grand Victoria Falls.
Enjoy a self-paced tour of the cultural village (optional).
Walk on the mighty Zambezi River.
Optional activities at your own cost (rafting, helicopter scenic flights, etc.)
